Washington, DC, (February 13, 2017) -The Hay-Adams is pleased to introduce a complimentary new pocketsize coloring book, commissioned exclusively for the hotel and created by Pulitzer Prize cartoonist Matt Wuerker. Almost a year in the making, the 13-page book sports drawings of 11 iconic monuments in the nation’s capital along with some more intimate settings in and around the landmark Hay-Adams, situated steps from the White House. The art book has an accompanying set of six color pencils that are also an idea travel size in their carrying box. So, when days are long and nights sleepless in this power city, this new amenity affords some relaxing fun for doodling and staying within Wuerker’s carefully drawn sketches.
Wuerker’s work can also be seen in the hotel’s famous watering hole, Off The Record, as he was one of the artists commissioned to create some of the collectible political drink coasters. There is also an impressive collection of political cartoons and character sketches of Washington’s newsmakers on display in Off The Record. The entire collection featured here contains works by award-winning illustrator Richard Thompson and cartoonists Matt Wuerker, Ann Telnaes, Mike Jenkins and Kevin “KAL” Kallaugher.
The award-winning Hay-Adams is located at 800 16th Street NW, Washington DC, 20006, across Lafayette Square from the White House. It offers guests Washington's most prestigious address with views overlooking the White House, Lafayette Square and St. John's Church, the "Church of the Presidents." The hotel is just minutes from the Smithsonian Museums, the Washington Monument, the Capitol Building, the Mall, as well as convenient to Metro stations and the convention center.
