The Hay-Adams Introduces Music Salons and New Celebrating the Arts Program, Building upon Its Popular Author Series

Expanded programming is a nod to hotel’s – and city’s – history

WASHINGTON, DC – September 26, 2022 – The Hay-Adams is introducing a new set of experiences that gather hearts, minds and imaginations in the pursuit of the art: music salons. The new programming expands the hotel’s beloved Author Series events into a broader program it calls “Celebrating the Arts at The Hay-Adams.”

Building on the literary salons hosted in the late 1800s by the hotel’s forebearers – John Hay and Henry Adams, Celebrating the Arts encompasses both the ongoing, popular events featuring some of the most compelling authors of our time, and, now, intimate, one-of-a-kind performances by PostClassical Ensemble, led by award-winning conductor Angel Gil-Ordóñez.

“Since 2005, we have brought the city’s great salon tradition to life in a truly special way through our Author Series, and we are ecstatic to formally expand into another powerful form of the arts with the introduction of our Music Salons,” said Nicolas Beliard, Managing Director, The Hay-Adams. “All Celebrating the Arts at The Hay-Adams events are intended to stoke curiosity, conversation and appreciation of the arts through thoughtful, lively presentations and performances.”

In collaboration with PostClassical Ensemble, Music Salons, intended to be a stunning respite from daily activities will take place in the hotel’s Hay-Adams Room, which features a warm ambiance amid inviting woodwork and period ceiling details.

PostClassical Ensemble is known for uniting some of the East Coast’s most distinguished musicians to capture composers’ extraordinary vision while creating a welcoming, inclusive and joyful experience that nourishes the soul, touches the spirit and inspires the mind. Under the visionary guidance of Madrid-born Gil-Ordóñez, known for blending his deep passion and experience with the refined talent and skill of elite musicians, hand-selected ensembles of musicians will create music performances at The Hay-Adams that transport and connect people.
