The Hay-Adams Transforms Winter Tea with New Themes
Beginning this month, the Sunday afternoon tea will honor monthly themes that illuminate gratitude and reflection.
WASHINGTON, DC, January 2, 2024 — The Hay-Adams, renowned for its exceptional cuisine, service and thoughtfulness, has unveiled new details about the exciting expansion of its winter tea experience to now include new themes from January through April 2024.
The beverage experts and pastry team have thoughtfully developed menus that not only tantalize the taste buds but also tell a story of the moment. Guests can expect the array of delectable treats, carefully selected teas, and exquisite presentations that honor the tradition of afternoon tea, that they have come to know and love each year at The Hay-Adams.
Beginning with the first tea of the year on Sunday, January 7, 2024, the month-long menu will allude to rejuvenation and new beginnings. Guests can choose intentional rejuvenation with selected items that foster well-being, such as curried chicken and Granny Smith apple or beetroot tartare and ricotta tea sandwiches, invigorating Tisane Fidji tea, and a delightful, colorful array of pastries including pistachio Paris-Brest and fruit dacquoise.
In February, the experience will emphasize love – the love of tea, life or romance. Sunday teas in February will offer treats that evoke passion, like the Tisane des Merveilles tea with sweet, wonderfully fruity notes combining verbena, lime blossom, rhubarb, raspberry, strawberry, date and orange blossom. Menu items will include lobster salad, tarragon and brioche tea sandwiches, potato basil scones, and sweets such as Nutella scones with whipped maple butter and hazelnut spread and a chocolate honey medovik.
In March, the experience will celebrate women in honor of International Women’s Day, and transition into Cherry Blossoms from late March into April, concluding that month. For the weeks celebrating women in March, treats like Miss Dammann tea: green tea and ginger complemented by the fruity, tangy flavors of lemon and passion fruit, reflect on the exceptional power, resilience, and multi-layered nuances of women.
In late March into April, when Washington, D.C. showcases its iconic flowering trees, the refined Week-End à Paris tea with fruity, floral notes of a lightly oxidized Oolong with vegetal freshness, subtly combines the finesse of sakura and peach blossom with the delicacy of almond and rose.
Tea is offered Sunday afternoons from 3-5 pm at The Lafayette, from November 5, 2023 into April 2024. Reservations are required, and can be made by calling 202.638.6600, or via OpenTable.
