Franziska Boelke

Franziska has lived in Washington, DC since 2006. Originally from Dresden, Germany, she has worked in hospitality since the age of 17, with experience in hotels and cruise lines alike. She loves the city's ample live-music offerings and she can direct you to the best spots in town. While not behind the concierge desk, Franziska enjoys working out at Cut7, biking around town for great coffee, and discovering new restaurants.

Must-do’s:

  • Celebrate the start of fall at Maxwell Park Wine Bar with a glass from their worldly list of excellent pours.

  • Make some art, listen to music, and tour the National Museum of Women in the Arts during their after-hours events on the third Wednesday evening of each month (ticket required)

  • Enjoy several of the DC art markets, including the Art Rave Artisan Market in Dupont Circle and the Holiday Vendor Fair at Bull Run Winery.

Sandor Subert

Originally from Hungary and fluent in Hungarian and English, also speaking Italian, Russian, German, and French, Sandor has lived in the city for several decades. His lifelong passions are languages and travel. He’s especially fond of hiking and exploring national parks and small Virginia towns, as well as visiting wineries and breweries. These complement his love of painting, photography and motorcycle rides. Sandor loves good conversation and values the art of listening.

Must-do’s:

  • Explore Glenstone, a private museum just outside of DC with indoor and outdoor installations.

  • Visit Hillwood Estate, Museum and Garden, the former residence of Marjorie Merriweather Post. The property boasts an extensive collection of decorative arts, as well as thirteen acres of formal gardens

  • Arrange a private bike tour on the National Mall with a private bike-guide, fully customized to fit the guests' interests. Great for families with kids!

BRIAN THOMASSON

Brian is in love with his native Washington, DC. From biking the city’s more than 80 miles of trails to hiking at Great Falls, from exploring the area’s national parks to going deep into the Smithsonian Institution, Brian and his two young sons find endless ways to actively enjoy the city. He also loves seeking out and trying new restaurants in the area.

Must-do’s:

  • The cherry blossom trees might be the most famous in the city, but DC has plenty of beautiful private gardens. Take a stroll through Dumbarton Oaks Gardens, the Grounds at Mount Vernon or Tudor Place Historic House & Garden, for the prettiest colors and designs.

  • Celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, the National Children’s Museum has sparked the curiosity of young children since day one. Whether climbing into clouds, exploring free movement spaces to build motor skills, designing and creating your ideas, everyone can discover fun.
